I am also a realist. My own struggle with health, embodying my womanhood, and nurturing my spirit has led me to discover that wellness cannot be achieved quickly. It is a journey that needs to be honoured in small amounts daily.
I am Gin. I am a decaf tea drinking coffee lover, technology cursing pinterest addict, and formerly ambitious professional in the new role of stay-at-home mum. I began this site as a blog designed to help new mums navigate the pressure cooker that is motherhood. It has evolved into a wellness hub for women who may not have much time to dedicate to themselves, but still want to nurture their wellness.
I have been on a long LONG exploratory path to find healthy habits that work. For a long time, I lived in a state of chronic fight-or-flight mode, a high pressure corporate job made me put deadlines before my well being. I was exhausted, despondent, resentful and in a job I despised but was really good at. I fed myself crap to try to feel better. Basically I abused my body because I had no skills to put towards the stress and anxiety I was experiencing. I put on weight, I lost weight, I put on more weight, I fought and pushed and punished my body to lose again. And the pattern repeated.
My body was running on adrenaline, cortisol alcohol and sugar for a good ten years. It felt hot, inflamed, puffy, stiff and tired. My mind was completely and utterly spent, unhappy, confused and lost.
Now, two kids, two diagnosis’ and another ten years later, I have found safety in seeking out evidence based habits and experts that know what the hell they are talking about. I’m a former analyst – I must know that what I am trying has substance. And now I want to share all that I have learned with you – not so that you can try and fail, but so that you can try to make each day better as often as you can. And trust me, when you do that, things change.
